How to Change Automatic Driving Events: Annotate Them

Hi,

A key requirement of the ELD Mandate is that driving events are automatically captured by the ELD and cannot be shortened by the driver.  A second requirement is that a driver's log must be accurate. In certain situations, such as when an ELD malfunction occurs or when the driver mistakenly turns off his device while remaining in driving, he can be left in a driving state for an exceptionally long time. We understand that these circumstances can be frustrating for drivers, but the official FMCSA position is that we must allow these events to remain intact & unedited. 

To handle these automatic events, create a remark annotating it (by placing the remark's timestamp immediately after the event in the logs) and include an explanation for the erroneous automatic driving event as well as a quick summary of what actually happened (ie. That the driver was Off Duty from time X:XX to Y:YY, but failed to change their status)
